Mozart's Die Entführung aus dem Serail — The Abduction from the Seraglio — is a Singspiel in three acts about a Spanish nobleman's attempt to rescue his beloved Konstanze from the Ottoman harem of Pasha Selim. Written for Vienna in 1782, it was Mozart's first German-language stage success.
